On a recent trip to the dollar store, I ran into these amazing wood slices, with enough pieces to create a set of runes. That then led me into thinking, "What should I store them in?" I could sew a bag, or use a small plastic container, but neither of those felt like the right choice for me. I searched and searched, until I found a cardboard container that I could paint purple, the color of divination. Of course, I then needed to buy some purple acrylic paint.
This rune set and container, all together, cost me around $4.15 (minus the price of the purple sharpie, which I already owned).
I then proceeded to paint the cardboard box. It took me 5 coats to get an application that I was happy with.
To finish off my DIY rune set, I then drew each rune on its own wood slice using a purple sharpie because purple corresponds with divination.
This is my complete DIY rune set from the dollar tree that I made for under $5.
